For over 100 years, the YMCA of Vincennes has responded to the needs and challenges of our community. In 1912, Major Gould and the community laid the cornerstone of the first YMCA in Vincennes at the corner of 4th and Broadway. The original cornerstone now resides at the front door of the Y facility at 2010 College Avenue. The present building was constructed in 1974 and has been expanded twice since that date. The YMCA Bettye J. McCormick Senior Center was constructed in 1999.
Gifts given to our YMCA as a part of our Annual Campaign that are $1,000 and more which receive special recognition.
Through gifts and commitments to the YMCA Endowment, Heritage Club members perpetuate the Y’s positive influence on future generations of families. A planned charitable gift may be made in a variety of ways to insure the financial stability of the Y in the coming years.
The Y is the nation’s leading nonprofit charity committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Members join the Y because they believe in us and our core values—caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. To learn more, visit ymca.net.
The Y empowers everyone, no matter who they are or where they’re from, by ensuring access to resources, relationships and opportunities for all to learn, grow and thrive. The Y’s goal is to improve overall health and well-being and ignite youth empowerment.
Every year, hundreds of volunteers contribute their time to our Y. Over 100 employees work to bring our cause to life. Thousands of community members visit our Y to build healthy spirit, mind and body. Your gift is a crucial part of making the promise come true.
It’s easy to make real change in your community through volunteering. And at the Y, your options are wide open. Use your time and talent to create an impact that really counts – coaching a youth sports team, extending a hand to help seniors, cheering on runners at a 5K race, helping out in the office, raising funds for those in need or teaching kids to garden. The Y is a nonprofit like no other. To take an active role in strengthening your community as a volunteer, complete a volunteer application or fill out the form below.
